Richard is a lifelong Eastern Washington resident with deep roots in Walla Walla County and a career defined by service to the community he calls home. For more than 23 years at the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office, he has protected local families, responded in moments of crisis, supported victims, and worked to strengthen trust between law enforcement and the people it serves. Walla Walla County isn’t just where Richard works; it’s where he has built his life and committed himself to making this community safer for the next generation.
Richard’s career is also defined by something that matters deeply in choosing a Sheriff: proven leadership. He has been repeatedly trusted with greater responsibility and promoted through the ranks, earning leadership roles that demand sound judgment, accountability, and results. From patrol operations to major incident response and agency-wide management, Richard has led teams, trained deputies, and helped guide the Sheriff’s Office through real-world challenges. Today, as Chief Deputy, Richard oversees major functions of the Sheriff’s Office and brings real command-level experience to the role.
